Default battery getting hot

i was just wondering what could be causing my battery to get so hot that it melts the terminal on the cable. i just replaced the voltage regulator and everything is hooked up correctly. cart is a 02 carryall 2

A bad ground or poor + connection will also create this condition. The battery will pull a higher current load if it isn't correctly and securely affixed to good connections. Clean your teminals and make sure all connections are nice and bright. Simple maintenance is always your best friend

check the other end of the ground cable and if its good i would have to agree maybe an internal short of the battery.............unless its the older adjustable V.R. than it may need adjusted..................................

But if that is the case I believe the wire would be HOT or even melt the insulation.

I think I was wrong once but I could have just been mistaken..

Never thought of that, maybe the VR is passing to much back to the battery ? That would cause problems for sure. Good call.
