Oil light on?
My Carryall 272 has an oil light on the dash that started staying on. I've looked all over the engine for an oil sending unit, but don't see one. Is there one? I tried tracing the wires from the light, but they go into a wiring harness. Anyone got a wiring diagram for this cart? I was told it was a '99 model by previous owner.

The oil sending unit is in the bottom of the crankcase. You would have to remove the engine to get to it. Check the wires back by the starter generator. This is where a lot of times it rubs thru and touches ground. Which makes the light come on.

Re: Oil light on?
Well, I need to take the skid off one day to weld a crack on it. Any idea what color wire it is that rubs? And it's got oil. I changed it not too long ago. I would think? if it didn't have pressure it would've fried by now. Maybe it's the wire. Most of the wiring on this thing has been tampered with.

Re: Oil light on?
Tom, thanks for the picture. I'll see if mine is the same. Man! for a 94 it sure looks clean!
Shadowman, I looked at the diagrams but couldn't make out the labeling very good. It should help though. |

Re: Oil light on?
Tom, I checked last night and mine has the same wire. I followed it up top near the starter/generator and it's not connected to anything. But I remember that wire has always been that way up top. And the oil light used to be off.
