Default Looking to buy, need advise on this club car

Hi everyone, newbie here, should see me around here quite frequently as I hope to buy a cart here in the next few weeks.
There is the club car not far from me, and wanted to know your thoughts on this.

The ad reads as follows:

I have for sale a 1996 Club Car Golf Cart, It has a new carb, and shift cable, battery is in good shape. This cart runs and drives good, It does seem to have alittle smoke when the engine is cold, It may be the new carb is not adjusted properly haven't really messed with it much. All and all it's a decent cart for the money.

I was thinking of looking at this one on my way to look at a Yamaha, I will be driving by this club car on my way to look at the yamaha. Is it worth checking out? a little smoke, I wonder if that means is smokes like crazy?
Let me know your thoughts on what this could be, I dont want something with major problems!

First off, how much is he asking and secondly, is he sure it's smoke and not vapor ? At this time of year it's not at all uncommon for any vehicle to have a smokey looking tailpipe due to the outside temperature. If it is smoke however, it would point to valve stem oil seals which are cheap and easy to replace.

He is asking $1200. I guess I will look at it, I would hope he would know the difference between smoke and the vapor!

For someone that is new to carts, would I be able to change the valve stem seals? I am handy, and have pretty good common scene! Should I be leary of him putting on the new carb? If its not adjusted correctly, I assume you could burn up a piston?

If I took it into a shop to have the seals replaced, what could one expect to pay to get it done?

Thanks!!

there are no real adjustments on the carbs, you take them out of the box put them on and leave them alone........if its just a puff of smoke when you 1st hit gas a lot of carts do this...........it could also be any trash in the exhaust.......or what FC said...........any time you take it to a shop its not gonna be cheap and as for doing it yourself if you grab the service manual it will walk you thur everything step by step...........i would offer him 1000 unless it has roof windsheild lights, then maybe 1100........................

I agree. You could buy my 2000 CC in perfect condition for 2k. 1.5k for a 95 with potential issues is on the high side.

He has been sitting on this since late December, I was going to offer him $900 for it. It has a roof, no windshield, no back seat. Just wondered what to look for when I look at it to see if it may be something major or minor. Blue smoke, stay away??
