Tachometer

Just hooked up a tach i bought from are sponsers and it works once part time. And when its not working my underbody lights pick up the spark and flash through the lights? Does any buddy have any idea why? If i unhook tach underbody lights work normal. Hook up tack lights inop just pick up spark??? No other lights are affected. Thanks for all your help.

Are you using the inductive pickup???? I just bought throo a minor mixup of numbers Equus p/n 6088.It did not work,so i purchased p/n 6068 and it did not work.After 6 calls to Equus tech line I got the right guy.He said I need the inductive pickup on a single cylinder which of course was not packed in with tach.He did send me 1 out immediately and it works great! According to him only difference between the 6068 and the 8068 is the color and a little cheaper in price.

I have one just like it. Works fine.
Make sure you wire it up by it itself.
No other power source or ground and make
sure your light is hooked up to your dash or
head lights. Good luck.

Yes i am using an inductive pick up. Both underbody lights and tach are on ignition switch. I will have to move tach to battery and try that. It does work for about a minute. I will have to wait till sunday my 2yr old grandson will be here and he loves to ride and play on it. will let you know.

Well i tried everything i could do and it only works for about 30 seconds and go's to 0 and stays there.Took it to my brothers hooked it up to his cart works fine. Came back home tested it on mine and same thing works for 30 seconds and go's to 0. Any body have any answers? Will a tiny tach even work?

Did you try to flip the inductive pick up on coil wire around. I have the same tach and had to put the pickup on backwards. Mine would not work until I did this. Worth a try.

You also mentioned your lights are playing games.I would check for a good ground on your cart,check cable.Poor grounds cant cause havoc for electrical components.

My guess is your Tach and underlights are sharing a ground and your main ground is weak.

Isolate your grounds and check the engine ground to make sure it has good contact on the frame.
