Default 96 coil change question

I'm trying to change the coil on a 96 club car that has the ignitor on the coil. I believe that's a newer 96. I cannot get the cover off that covers the coil. I have read the instructions posted on this forum and still cannot get it. I cannot find the bolt at 3 o'clock. The muffler bracket is at 3 o'clock. Is it under the muffler bracket? I cannot feel any bolts except the ones holding that muffler bracket on and those don't line up with the shroud. I assume 3 o'clock means toward the back of the machine. Any advise will help, and thanks in advance.

The muffler needs to come off and unless you have the dexterity of a Macaque Monkey that 3-oclock bolt head is a bear. You are correct as to its position but don't remove it. Just unscrew it 3 -4 turns (shroud is slotted) or you will have the devils own work in replacing it.
Once you have done this a couple of times you will be able to complete the task in under 30 minutes. First time is always the worst.

I took the muffler itself off, but does the bracket that holds the muffler up that the hose clamp goes around have to come off also? Is the bolt under that bracket?

no not really the muffler itself is off, it is the support bracket that holds the muffler up that seems to be in the way. It bolts to the back of the motor at 3 o'clock and comes past the shroud to hold the muffler. I'm assuming that it is in the way but have not heard anyone say anything about taking it off. don't want to take it off if I don't have to it's gonna be a real bear to get off and back on.

Also, I think I'm gonna look for a used shop manual for my golf cart. Since it is a late 96 do I need a 1997 shop manual? As stated earlier, the igniter is on the coil. Does anyone have any idea where I can buy a cheap used manual?

A 97 manual will be just fine, as to cheap though, perhaps try ebay ?
