Default Cart intermittant dead

87 Club Car Gas. Intermittantly but beoming more frequent. I step down on the gas and the car is dead, no chug just nothing. Step down again (number of times varies) it goes. What could be the cause and fix? I am really new to carts and not technically skilled on them so if you can help I would appreciate a dummy downed answer.

Thank you in advance

I'm not familiar with the CC's but it sounds like a connection issue with whatever activates the starter/generator. Do these have a pedal switch?

I am not sure. The cart is up north so I can't look at. As I have been trying to research I was wondering if there might be one of those Micro Switchs in the speed box. I don't know if their would be a switch anywhere else. I thought I could try changing the switch and then I also though for $30 something I should just replace the solenoid too (I am not skilled enough to know how to test it) Does that sound like a good plan?

Thanks

Sounds like a good plan. $30 for a solenoid is a good deal.

Boy, I thought you would get responses then what these guys came up with!!! Come on, someone has to know more about these carts and this problem. I have 2 neighbors with the same carts and they have the same problem. Where are the experts when you need them???

"These guys" had a better response than you did. Nice first post.

SV1, sorry the newb hyjacked your thread.....anyways. Get a volt/ohm meter and check the micoswitches when it happens. Check the small terminals on the solenoid to see if they are getting power when you push the pedal to start. If it is getting power to the activation coil, replace the solenoid. Also, my first thought was a weak actication coil in the solenoid. Nothing you can do to repair it except change the solenoid. Try tapping on the solenoid when it happens and see if it starts aftewards. If it starts repeatedly after tapping replace the solenoid.

there are 2 micro switches in the box where the solenoid is one activates so cart will turn over.....if its going bad than it will caust that intermittant problem so before buying the solenoid or when you buy it buy 2 micro switches as well and replace both of them that will give you a spare.........have you looked at the starter brushes? there are 4 rubber boots on the starter you can get to 2 of them without taking starter off so pull a few and see how worn the brushes are that will cause it also...................................
