Oil light
I have a 93 gas club car with an 8 inch a arm lift. I took it for a ride yesterday and when the engine would rev to top rpm's my oil light would come on until I took my foot off the gas. This happens going uphill, downhill, or even on level ground. I know I have correct amount of oil in it. Should I start mixing my gas to be on safe side and if so to I need to modify motor any to do so? Also what is best mix ratio?

Re: Oil light
as far as I know, you NEVER mix gas in a 4 stroke engine.
i would assume that a couple things are happening. the biggest is that your engine probably isn't level. this throws off the dipstick mark and the oil level sensor. the other thing is that i bet you are over revving the motor. if you pump the oil out of the crankcase faster than it can return that is a problem. I would make sure the motor is level. drop/fab a new front mount for the engine pan if necessary. check oil level at a level motor condition. Also i would go to synthetic oil. it has been my experience with my carts taht regularly over rev that it flows better when cold and hot. usually keeps that annoying light off.. -Aaron |

Re: Oil light
Correct me if I am wrong on this as I don't know for sure. But I thought that the club car engines are bolted to the rear axle with a pan underneath. It is that way on a couple of newer DS's I've worked on I can't say for sure on a '93 though.

Club Car don't make two stroke engines and even if they did, mixing oil into the gas is hardly going to change the fact that oil light comes on. As previously mentioned, it could be that the oil level is off due to your lift but that generally throws the dipstick mark off on the high side (overfull) and produces engine smoke. I would have to conclude that high RPM is causing the oil slinger to throw the oil into the motor faster than it can drain back to the pan and thus causing the oil light to indicate. Is this accompanied by any engine noise ? FC |

I have not changed anything in the factory governor setting and I am also running full synthetic oil in my motor. I was just wondering on the oil mix thing cause I know I have seen posts on here about mixing oil. Maybe it was for ezgo or Yamaha I'm not sure. I am going to put a clone in my cart this winter but don't want to lose this motor early

Re: Oil light
Ya mine did this last weekend, but I was pinned wide open throttle (passing my dads yamaha) Oil level is good but I was probably pushing limits a bit.
