An absolute GENIUS teacher i had for small engines taught me something that has saved me literally days of time. For an engine to run, you need three things. Fuel (as defined by a useful mixture of air and fuel), spark (spark...), and compression (resistance when manually cranking your drive clutch in this case).
  • My first and foremost thought, is your fuel line on? I only ask because I've forgotten that one quite a few times while working on a golf course fleet. Cleaning your carb and fuel tank would require shutting off your line.
  • Second, is there a clog in your fuel line? improbable, but not impossible.
  • Third, your carb might have flooded. also, improbable but possible

On to spark.
  • well if you have it, no sense in diagnosing something functional

Finally, compression. Pretty simple to check
  • Make sure your spark plug is in and tightened properly. try manually rotating your drive clutch. if the movement is smooth, you have no compression, in which case you need to get to your piston and check your gaskets and such. if you have noticeable resistance that comes and goes but you can still rotate your clutch rather easily, you still have a compression problem. rotating your clutch shouldn't be easy, but it isn't impossible.

That is my advice, take it or leave it. I'd love to hear your results and i hope this helps

Check the charge in your battery. A battery that is low on charge will often times turn the motor over but not be able to generate enough ummph to fire it.
