Default Lift Questions?

I have an 03 cc gasser with I believe a 4" frame cut lift. Iam wanting to go bigger with the lift (maybe 9"), How high can I go by rebuilding the parts that join the frame and the spring perches. And also is there anything else that I may need?

Welcome to BGW, Fleebo!!!

I too, have a 4" Z lift, and have been tossing around the idea of doing something the same as your thinking,
for about 2 years now...

After some investigation, I found that removing the Z plates, and putting in straight plates,
then adding a lift, is more of a hassle then expected.

Adding a lift (A-Arm) on top of the existing Z lift is NOT recomended by anybody... but, I've seen it done...
(4" Z with an 8" A-Arm... it'll bolt right up, but it looks to be very unstable,
when taking a turn at any moderate speed)

I found what would work the best for me, (but still haven't done it yet)
Is a Jake's 3" spindle lift, with the existing 4" Z lift,
that would get me around 6 to 7" total lift, which would be high enough for my cart.
(being that it goes much faster then stock!)

(I think) Jake's is the only one with a decent 3" spindle lift, (but rather "pricey")

If your looking for more... there are 6" spindle lifts made my other manufacturers.
(Jake's, All Sports, Etc.)
those would be questions for our sponsers!

but, do me (us) a favor... stay away from the "Bug Unlimited" spindle lifts...
the price may be right, but, from what I've heard... your safety may be of concern!

Good luck!

I bought a '00 CC Carryall with an existing 'Z' lift. It had 22" tires which rubbed when turning. I put the JAKES 3" in the front and a 6" in the rear and was pleased with the results.

I have since put another Jakes 3" on my DS with out the Z and like it also.
I find that it doesn't matter how high the body goes the ground clearance is only as high as the tires lift ya

Thanks Lockman1 for the reply. The idea I have in mind is taking the 4" z lift off and building a 7" or 9" the same way the 4 is built. I am not too concerned about ground clearance,as this is an asphalt buggy only. I have looked at the 7" and the 9" lift on the internet but I just don't know if there are any more pieces to this lift compared to the one I have. I was also wandering what performance mods could be done other than the gov. and gears. I had my gov. pulled loose but was worried about the rpm's. Any help would be greatly appreciated,by the way love the site, it has some great info.

They make a 9" Z lift which would swap right out with yours...
and they are really reasonably priced... I know that "other place" has them,
but, I'd give Tom @ Carts Parts Plus (Dixie Sales) a call, and see what he can do for you!

as for mods and RPM's... you can set your Gov so you won't have to worry about overreving,
and still get almost full potential from it!!!

Are the z-lifts fairly good lifts, or should I go with the spindle lift. And as for setting the gov., how do you know where to set it without overreving it? You were saying that yours was pretty fast, what mods have you done?

IMO...
Useing a 7 or a 9" Z lift is not worth while...
you really need a wider stance, when getting her up that high!
I would definitly go with a spindle lift with your existing Z...
maybe, even some 1" to 1 1/2" wheel spacers all around, above a 6" lift
(stability... = .... safety!!!)

I set my Govenor in maintenance mode with a car tach...
that way I knew I wouldn't over rev,
(with the limiter ground disconnected)

I've got an 07 CC Lynx (DS) FE350... ziped tied the govenor spring, (@4500 RPM's)
with CPP's "Performance exhaust kit"... otherwise... all is stock... (warranty is done in 2 months...)
and the last GPS (3 weeks ago) was 29.5 mph

if you have an FE290, you should get @ 25 mph with the same mods on your stock engine....

Just be careful if your going to lift it to 10"!!!

have fun!
and, be safe!

Scotty... do you have a front/clearance pic of your '00?
(my interest in a Jake's 3" has been sparked again!!!)

Hey Lockman1! I can't find the 3" spindle kit anywhere. I have looked at east coast, cart parts, and the " other place". Do you have any suggestions? Also, when I do find a 3" lift, how will the rear work with the lift I already have?

Here...

http://www.jakescarts.com/Products/clubcarLift.shtml

Pick out the one you want, write down the part #,
(most likely it'll be the 6234-3LD, but make sure to check your caps...metal or plastic)
then call Tom @ CPP, or Ron @ ECC, or Mike @ Mike toys...
(All of which are our sponsors, and all of which will probably get you a better deal then buying straight from Jake's!)

as for the rear lift...
right now your axle is on top of your leaf springs....
when adding the new lift, your axle will go below your leaf springs!
There's your rear lift!
