1991 Gas Club Car won't stop running
This is my first post. I would be grateful for any input you guys could give me. I have a Gas powered 1991 Club Car DS. As soon as I turn the key on, the engine starts running. The engine only stops if I turn the key off. I even tried unplugging the spark plug, but it continues to run. I have removed the top to the box just to the left of the battery that contains the solenoid and what looks like a voltage regulator. I just don't know where to go from here.

Jeremy sounds to me like your solenoid is stuck closed. I would check to see it solenoid is getting power. If it is your pedal must be telling it to go. Id look in the black box area. If solenoid isn't getting power when engine turns over, replace solenoid. Im sure more ppl will chime in soon. Woooo pig sooooie!!!

Check the micro switches in the black box to see if working properly.

Dont freak, see if the switches are working.as they.should. I haven't worked on one that old, but the ones i seen have the switches in black box connected to go pedal rod.

Re: 1991 Gas Club Car won't stop running
the micro switch is not touching the pedal rod. when i pressed the rod against the micro switch the engine killed. is that a possible reason why it won't start on its own now?

Re: 1991 Gas Club Car won't stop running
The rod shud move the switch open or close upon pushing go pedal. If its not working properly yea that can be why. When u push the pedal is shud move a black looking cam that in turns engages ur microswitch. Its kinda simple once you get a clear view of it.
