Hello, this is my first post here. I just bought a 1989 Carryall I gas with the flathead engine. It runs fine but won't cut off when the pedal is released. Also the shifter is a little tough and sometimes has to be repositioned to start the engine.

if it has the same type throttle linkage between the accelerator pedal and the "black box", you might try to shorten that linkage just a tad......one or 2 turns on each end, replace and test.....I adusted my 96 linkage rod just a tad to much and it would start when I turned on the key

That's another thing. The key will not kill the motor. Is it supposed to? Does anybody know if this model has the black box with a micro switch. I'll look tomorrow, it's bed time. Thanks.
