Default Club car, go kart setup? Help!

Hello All. Completely new to the golf cart family! So I apologize ahead here for any "common sense" things I may ask. I am learning as I go.

So, I recently purchased a 1990 gas club car, slightly running. It vibrated and jerked badly until reached approx 2500RPM and then settled down and smoothed out. However, it still struggled to climb a hill. Would just bog down and stop midway up the hill.

First, I went through an tightened up any and all loose bolts on the cart. Found several, but 3 of 4 motor mount bolts seemed to be the main culprit. I started the cart back up and the vibration settled down about 50%. Jerking was still presend and still struggled up the hills.

Next, and this is where I think the cart is different from most, I looked (and researched) the drivetrain setup. From that research, it looks like that I have a go kart clutch and sprocket setup. I have a 1" bore Noram 10tooth clutch and a approx. 15 tooth sprocket on the back! Here is where all m questions come in.....

1990 Club car
Engine - Briggs Cast iron/Commercial 10hp
Weight- 600+- lbs
Clutch- Noram 10t
Sprocket- 15t

1. Is this drive setup normal?
2. Will this setup actually work?
3. What size clutch, chain, and sprocket could be utilized for more off-road use (don't really care about speed).
5. Should/Can I change it to more of a torque converter setup?

I'm baffled, lost, and can't find any information online.....
Thanks ahead for the help here!

The golf carts use 2 CV (constant velocity) type clutches.

you have what is called a centrifugal clutch witch are very jerkey untill the engine is revved out and the shoes inside the clutch quit slipping. they make high end clutches for this style but they are pricey witch are smoother. as far as converting it back depends on what they did to the rear end to make it accept a sprocket. maybe snap a pic or two of the drive sprockets .

The rear bore is approx, 7/8" keyed shaft (definitely less than 1 inch)and the is approx. 8 inches long. Would putting a larger sprocket on the back help with power and jerking? The sprocket back there is not much bigger than the clutch sprocket.

Yes putting a bigger sprocket on the rear will give you more torque for going up hills but also will reduce top speed. That's where the cc clutch is nice get the best of both worlds.

I am likely going to try a larger sprocket, first. When you say "cc", I assume you meant cv? I am new with this verbiage. So, what size sprocket should I be using? I have factory 18x8,5x8 tires i believe. 10t clutch sprocket. I0 hp briggs. Thanks for the help!

Yes i ment "cv . Also what size chain are you using? #30#40#50 i always use implement chain, cheaper can use it on just about everything. But id say if using a #50 chain in back you probly want a 15-20 beacuse of the overall diameter will be bigger witch gives you more tq.so to get the same diameter as a #50 from A #30 its going to take alot more teeth to have same size,so it may be more like a 50tooth . Hopefully this makes sense.
