Default Hitch ideas

I'm lookin for ideas for the receiver style hitch on my 96CC. I have a receiver sytle hitch on it now but it scares me to put mutch load on it at all. It pulls down on the furthest back cross memeber and looks like it could easily just rip it right off the back of the frame. I'm willing to cut and weld like a mad man but I just haven't came up with anything that I really like.

Thanks.

I saw something I liked. The hitch was mounted to the axles at the shackle mounts....You are right to worry about those CC frames the older ones are all in need of repair back around the bumper mounts.

On the weight thing, I guess I'm kind of unprepaired to answer. I'd like to be able to pull our little 4' hair/hairo/ground scratcher upper without worrying about it.

I really like the idea of the axle mount. Seems like a very good plan to just completley take the weight off of the frame and suspension and transfer it directly to the axle and tires/wheels. Wouldn't by any chance have a picture?

Thanks!

I'm sorry I don't have a picture. It was just something I saw recently on one cart and I thought it was a good idea. But.....now that I think on it the suspension on the CC is no big structural thing either!? One 5/16 (?) bolt at each end of the leaf spring is all that holds it in.
Are you wanting to drag a small wire harrow around? like this?

That should be easy. It drags on top of the ground.......as soon as you hook onto something that goes into the ground the forces quadruple.

That's pretty much exactly what I'd like to pull along with a small trailer I have and who knows what else. That hairo sometimes puts the grunt on what's pulling it believe it or not.

I hear you on the not so heavy suspension on CC. I'm thinking that if all the force is on the axle that it could handle quite a bit more than the frame. Reason being is that not only would the axle support tongue weight but the forward and reverse motion would be directed to the tires and not so much the suspension. If I imagine (for the sake of planning) that there was no frame but only the axle and leafs hanging there that when you mashed the throttle the hitch would have to go with the axle...conversely if you mashed the brakes the hitch will do what the axle does. It seems that only the twisting motion would be left to cause problems. Now I've confused myself.

i made my own. it went across the back(was a car hitch) and bolted at the sides with 2 3/4 bolts straight up. then it rested along the frame and kinda bolts in through the shock bolts on top.

It is really strong as I have moved my car trailer around with it(sorta empty)

I think everything carts sells a nice looking unit, but I have never used one of them
