Default Gas filling motor locking it up.

Just bought it and guy said it was good for kids. 2 problems with it. Problem 1 the car runs good once it gets going then while parked it fills the motor with gas and will not turn over. I take plug out turn it over to pump gas out and it will run. Problem 2 it appears the choke is not working because it is extremely hard to get started. It just spins over and over. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like your float is sticking,or the needle/seat is sticking.Either one will flood it out.If it floods, remove the spark-plug and turn it over by hand to clear the fuel from the cylinder.Too many people pull the plug and spin it with the starter, then the spark-plug ignites the fuel and you have a fire!Trying to turn it over, full of fuel is a good way to bend the rod as well. When it floods, clean the plug while its' out,the fuel is soaking it,causing hard-starting.Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will turn it over by hand this time. I will take the carb off and have someone look at it. I took the bowl off and cleaned it out. I don't trust myself more than that. Thanks again.

Thanks guys. I will have someone look at it or rebuild it. I will also change the oil and filter in case gas got it there. Really nice to have people help.

I have had the same exact problem....pulled the plug and hit the pedal......FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What happened was just what was said...float stuck open...draining gas into motor. I drained the oil...had 1 gal of gas in it!!!

Take carb off and give it a good cleaning...should be fine!
