Default Club Car FE290 Intermittent spark problem!!

I have a 99 model club car that I can't seem to keep a steady spark on. I thought it was the fuel system so I replaced the fuel pump, cleaned the entire fuel system and rebuild the carb, it gets plenty of gas! I tested the spark plug (looking for spark) when it was cold, and it's a strong consistent blue spark. When It heats up after 4-5 minutes of use it will sputter, backfire, and eventually just crank over and over with the help of the electric engine, but not spark.

I read that it could be the RPM limiter, so I disconnected the black ground, only to have the same problem.

I replaced the relay cylinder (black, 2" diameter, 3" tall, 4 tower connections), no luck.

These things made it run smoother and stronger when it's running, but didn't solve my problem.

I am now leaning on a bad coil, or a bad ignitor. I am not sure if this is the one with the built in coil+ignitor or not. It has the FE290 kawasaki like I said. The spark wire goes under a shroud that looks like it might have a fan or something in it on the driver side of the engine.

My question is...
1) Can I replace the coil with the engine in the cart?
2) Is there an alternative to buying the "club car" coil?
(I saw people doing HEI coil swaps, wondering if it's applicable)

I am mechanically inclined and able to perform the work myself.

Thanks for reading ! I look forward to hearing your answers!
