Why does my cart run with the gas cap off?

Hi my cart would flood horribly with the gas cap on.Take the cap off it runs perfect.Whats up?

Hello, you should always start off with the year and model of your golf cart, that always helps us. Gas tanks are all vented weather its through the gas cap or other venting sorce, if you have a vented gas cap then its not venting and the gas tank is building presure and flooding the carb

Sorry man its a 1998 4stroke club cart.Kawasaki engine.Is it cool just to drill a small hole in the cap?

sure if you want too, just remember the cap was desighned to let air in and not let gas out. when you drill a small hole in it gas will slosh out if you get it to full, if drilling a small hole stops your problem just get a new cap after words there cheap

Mud wasps love to build nests in vent tubes! If your cart has one, that may be your issue!
