I little thing about the momentary switch ideal. I personaly dont see any problem at all if you were to enable it, or disable it while the engine is in its safe rpm range (below the limiter) because there is no power running through the ground strap unless your hitting the limiter, or above its limiting range.
The only issue i do see with it is, yes like Roady pointed out, enabling or disabling it while your past the limited speed, or are hitting the limiter. Electronics do not like spikes like that. But as far as disabling it before you hit its goverend range, and enabling it, below its govered range when there is no electricity flowing through the ground wire, you should have no problem. And as Lockman stated about the kids running it, it would be best to keep the switch in a locked golve box, where no one can tamper with it, and you only have the keys to it, keep the kids off of it. Because if they blow the motor, get them to pay the bill Or if you do have a floor switch, add a secondary switch hidden away, that enables the floor switch. For safety. But as with anyone disabling their rev limiter, a tach is definetly a good buy. Because things can get out of hand quckly when your racing someone in the heat of the moment. |

Then yes, backing off the nut on the speed governor arm will alow it to move freely without the internal governor pulling it back.

Sorry I am new to this , so the speed limiter on the rearend and rev limiter are to different things (got it ) If I just diconnect the nut on the speed limiter what if any gains should I expect ? I'am a bit cautious in unhooking the rev limiter cause I get a little crazy when it involves going fast as I might just blow the thing up ..LOL !

Thanks Lockman1
Thats the info I`ve been looking for. Any way you could get that wiring diagram to me so I can blow it up big enough to really see it? Can you think of any other reason why my cart would nosedive like it does? I mean it acts like a limiter is kicking in, but anything is possible. As far as I know nothing has been done to it. YET! Thanks to all that helped with the info. Got the proper limiter ground wire diconnected and it no longer falls on its face at full throttle. I haven`t messed with the governor so it kicks in and won`t let it over speed. Yet it is still 2 or 3 mph faster than my other stock 96 CC gasser. Not as fast as my 84 CC electric, updated to 48 volts, 6" spindle lift with 22x12x8 on rear and 22x8x10 on front...26 to 28 mph.

Did a speed test with GPS just to see how fast it was going. Does 18 mph with nothing done but the rev limiter disconnected on 205x50x10 tires. Not too shabby. Haven`t tried to speed it up yet.
