Solving CW to CCW Issue
Looking for ideas to solve my rotation direction issue. Have a '97 ds and have a 22hp Subaru 650 that is CCW. Transaxle is designed for CW. I can go faster in reverse than forward and I don't like it. When going in reverse, it pops out of gear so I either need to spend time/money on this one or a different solution. I also would like a limited slip. What options do I have? Fab work is not an issue. Do any of the other brand carts use a CCW input? Maybe retrofit that transaxle into my cc.
The 22hp Subaru is probably closer to 25 or 26 because of modifictions done to it so I would need something that is known for strength also. Any ideas?? |

Re: Solving CW to CCW Issue
'96 and older Club Car used a countercockwise rotation. Club Car changed (reason unknown) to clockwise with the '97 models.
You could get a rear axle assembly from a pre '96 and solve the issue. Another choice is high speed gears. It will still be reversed and still be faster in reverse but you forward speed would pick up. |

Were ALL pre 96 club cars CCW rotation? There wasn't any special years or applications to avoid that used CW? It sounds like I need to start looking for a pre '97 transaxle. Thanks Any other ideas? |

Re: Solving CW to CCW Issue
To the best of my knowledge, all the DS, CarryAll, and Villager models used a counterclockwise rotation 96 and older. The change to clockwise happened in the DS for '97 and up for sure. Probably for the Villager 4 as well since it is essentially a DS with a back seat. I do not know for sure when it happened with the CarryAll, but its a good bet it was '97 as well, since there is very little difference in the drive train.
There are those far more knowledgeable than I on all matters Club Car. I'm fairly certain they would correct any mistaken information. |

Thanks for the info. Does the CarryAll use the same transaxle or is it a heavier duty model? Are the Yamaha's and ezgo's both CCW transaxles? Any idea if either of them is known as being the strongest transaxle? |

Some of the more knowledgeable can give you better details on what transaxles were used in different years. The CarryAll does have heavy duty springs/suspension. If I an not mistaken, the CarryAll also incorporates a stabilizer bar in to the rear suspension. |
