Default Club Car Gas Engine Tach

I have a 2003 Club Car Turf 2. I am trying to install a Equus 3-3/8" Tachometer, DIS that is for a 4 cycle engine with 1 to 12 cylinders. It has an inductive pick up. I have installed it according to the instructions but it will not read. I call Equus and they were no help. has anybody out there had this problem in the past. Thanks in advance you might be able to give me.

You've programmed it for a 1-cylinder and double-checked your wiring? I'm thinking about getting this same tach in the near future.

Yes checked and double checked and still no luck. It's a good looking tach but it won't work. I think there might be something wrong with the pick up.

Will it light up at all? I think that tach has a backlight for night time.

I seem to remember somewhere in a thread where someone had this same problem and it was because the pickup wasn't getting a good signal because the plug wire wasn't thick enough.. Think they used a piece of a tire tube to wrap around the wire and make it thicker ???

No luck on the gas hose thing. I am going to try the splicing in a longer plug wire.

Dont think you have to splice it. I saw extensions some where ... 8mm I believe

Check that... NGK 8083
