Pre-questions
Hello,
I have been thinking about getting a golf cart to fix up instead of buying a dune buggy. I am just curious on my options of getting a club car to be able to go 50mph. I cannot change an engine myself but what can I do? Would I be able to get a go-kart custom made at a cheap price online? All I would want is a good snowmobile engine in it or something. I can do the rest myself. I am just horrible with engines and dont want to waste money and destroy everything Also if anyone could make me one up (im not expecting anyont to) and have it shipped to me, Id love you. In a non-homosexual way. |

Re: Pre-questions
Mabey $500?
I am a bit flexible though. Oh, I mean for that upgrade or engine, not the full cart lol. But the cheaper the better. Im not rich but I can save up a tiny bit of cash. So basically I just want to know a few options, Dont go by price... Unless if over a thousand, I get a bit meh |

Re: Pre-questions
You should add another 0 to that. I don't think you can get to 50MPH for $500.

Re: Pre-questions
I heard you could easily get a used snowmobile engine in the hundreds...
Should I just start learning about engine basics to start with? I do not mean get a full golf cart that goes 50mph for $500. And, would a local club car dealer put a snowmobile engine that i buy in for me? |

Re: Pre-questions
Sled engine can be found on ebay pretty cheap. Any dealer in his right mind is not going to install a sled motor for you. You will either have to do it yourself or find someone to do it for you. Sled engines can produce lot of power.

Re: Pre-questions
Then maybe you might want to start slowly and go from there. Buy a cart with a stock engine, become familiar with it's workings and spend some time learning from different venues such as this forum. There is alot to know, tons of money can be spent the wrong way. Mistakes cost lots of $$$$.. and by the way, 50 mph in golf cart is very very fast. Things can go horribly wrong horribly fast at that speed. My cart is capable of 40 mph and things happen pretty quick at that speed, without the protection of doors or disc brakes or seat belts. Just my two cents.

Re: Pre-questions

Now, where to start? EDIT; What makes your buggy be capable of 40? Last edited by shooter498; 08-24-2008 at 08:29 PM.. Reason: add question |
