Default Club Car year and basic info needed right away

I'm looking at a Club Car for sale. The engine is toast, which is fine. I have a clone for it. I don't know much else yet though. Seller is a lady with zero knowledge about what she has. I'm hoping you guys can tell me what year, or year range, it is, whether it's a 2 stroke, etc. I've also read about Club Cars where the engine has to be oriented 180 degrees (compared to an Ezgo) because the driven clutch is on the opposite side and that results in the engine rotation being backwards (with respect to the driven clutch). I haven't seen the cart in person yet. I plan on going later this morning. The canopy has been whacked but the rest looks pretty good.

Thanks guys. Especially anybody who gets up early enough this morning to post some info before I leave

Here's a link to the ad. There are 4 pics.
EDIT: link no good

Found some info on the engine rotation thing and how to read the serial number, which I don't have yet. Info didn't come up till I was more creative with my search criteria.

How would I know just looking at it whether it has a transaxle or just a regular rear end? It appears to have a handle for shifting fwd/rev on the front of the seat base like my Ezgo. Not sure if that's what I think it is though.

It's a DS model, it looks to be between a 1997 and 2000, (clockwise rotation)
But, the only real way to tell the year is by the serial number!

The tag may read something like AG98-XXXXXX
AG= DS Gas
98= 1998 (or whatever year it is!)

All gas CC's are 4 stroke, and the missing clutch might set you back a few $,
But, otherwise it looks to be in good shape, and a fair price!

Thanks Lockman. Good info. The cart happens to be about 3 miles from my house and the lady has given me dibs on it as long as I get there today. Usually anything I'm after is located a hundred miles away and sells before I see the ad. I don't really need another cart, but what the heck..

IF... by chance... there's no serial number tag, The first thing I'd look at is the transaxle,
If it's a 2-part transaxle, (85-96) it'll be Counter Clockwise
If it's a unitized transaxle, (97+ Clockwise) it'll look like this:

Good luck!

More good info. Thank you sir

I have a spare Ezgo transaxle and it looks like it wouldn't be that hard to swap it in if the CC axle is the wrong rotation. I'd rather keep it for a spare for my Ezgo cart though, or in case I run across a dirt cheap pre-93 Ezgo in nice shape, or I want to swap it for something, or... whatever. I looked for over a year for a fwd/rev transaxle for my 90 Ezgo (I replaced the 2 stroke with a 390 clone) then found two of them a week apart, different sellers, paid $100 for one and $125 for the other. Got the whole cart in the $125 deal with other parts I needed, like the shifter cables. That was last spring and I haven't seen another one for sale since then. This hobby is just like my vintage JD garden tractor and C3 Corvette addictions. Ya gotta be in the right place at the right time.

Serial number is AG9828672573 so it's clockwise rotation. Shoot. I was hoping it was the older counter clockwise version.

Bought it for $300. It's in pretty good shape for the money. Turned out to be my daughter's friend's dad. Small world sometimes.

Sounds like you scored a nice project cart. Be sure to post some pics as the ad that you linked is deleted so we can't see the pics

Can we embed pics in the post or do they have to be stored somewhere and linked to?
