Default performance spring in new drive clutch ?

Hi guys long time no talk,
I bought the performance spring kit a while back for my lifted DS with 22" tires .I finally got around to installing them. We have a club car dealer next door to my work So I thought Id get them to re and re the clutches and springs for me.It turns out that my drive clutch is worn real bad (no surprise), he has a new one on the shelf. The club car mechanic is suggesting I try the new drive clutch the way it is and leave the springs stock on both clutches . Is this not kinda a waste of time ? I want more toque for going up hills etc, should I just install new springs now ?
THanks

Most guys on here I've seen that lift a cart on 22s don't even touch the drive clutch. They send their driven clutch (rear clutch) to Tom at Cart Parts Plus and he machines the sheaves so they close more (forcing the belt diameter around the driven clutch to be larger at takeoff) and also adding the torque spring. I lifted my cart 6" with 22s and will be doing exactly that. I have a brand new drive clutch on my cart and I can still feel it slowing down a bit on the steep hills, even with no passengers.

I have yet to hear a single person who says they're unhappy with the results of the driven clutch mods above. They say it brings back all the torque you lost when the larger tires were added.

the kit that I bought came with 2 springs one for the primary and one for the secondary. I had him install the "performance" spring in the new primary, it works great!
Here is another question, The driven clutch spring has tabs on either end that sit in holes in the clutch BUT the new performance spring has no tabs... ? Do I have the wrong spring for the driven clutch? This is what my stock spring looks like.club-car-driven-clutch-assembly.jpg

Yes the new performance spring has no tabs on it from what I understand. The reason for this is so that the same spring can be used on the '88-'96 clutch (counterclockwise motor rotation) as on the '97-up clutch (clockwise motor rotation).

Here's a thread where it was discussed:

88-96 vs 97+ driven clutch

Post #5 is the guy from CPP explaining the different springs.

thank you ! so no pre load is required for the drivin clutch spring ?? I assumed that it would need it.

Sweet. I just sent my driven clutch out yesterday to be machined and have the torque spring added. Hope to have it back and the cart running by next weekend.
