Default 89 starts when pedal released

It does start and runs good. Is there a reason it won't start until I release the pedal?

Yep. Has sombody been working on it?

Actually "Starter Drag" ,will cause this. It'll pull so many amps that the coil is on LOW voltage untill the acelerator pedal stops sending voltage to the starter motor.

Yep......... Usually it is.

Also if the coil is weak, this will happen to. Maybe some of the other guys can lend some advise too.

Thumbs up Re: 89 starts when pedal released

Oliver did this fix the problem? I have an 89 carryall and is only sparking when I let off the accelerator, replaced both coils, and all 4 microswitches. Curious what Rusty said, check out my thread regarding my problem, I might have the same problem, please let me know

I did not replace the coil and I don't think I have an rpm limiter. I did replace the microswitches, the key switch and the voltage regulator. Also I found the kill wire was disconnected. Don't know what fixed mine but it is fixed. It now starts, runs and cuts off like it is supposed to. Before, it would not cut off when the pedal was released. When starting it would not fire until the pedal was released. I had the starter checked and it was good.
