Default adjust the brakes?

Ok so I finally got around to installing the rear lift on my 04 ds, when I have the cart in neutral the brakes seem to be dragging quite a bit. I'm wondering if I should adjust them or if there is another problem. I'm wondering if its just getting rusty in the drum from being outside for a couple months covered up. I couldn't get it out and drive it because the ground strap on the starter broke and I need to get longer fuel lines. Any ideas?

And I bought a ground strap from advanced but its around a 10gauge. Its bigger than the motor ground strap but smaller than the starter ground. Should work right? I hope. I won't be able to install it untill tomorrow, I still need some 1/4" fuel line too.

I had a similar issue with mine a couple months ago. I did a bunch of things and to this day I'm not 100% sure what really did the trick. I have a suspicion that possibly driving, and allowing the brake cables to adjust to their new position may have had an effect. This may explain why some members have had issues and some haven't. The ones who didn't have an issue possibly drove their carts for a while after the lift was installed without even thinking about the brakes. But I could be wrong. With mine, I noticed the brake drag before I even drove it past my driveway.

I'm pretty sure it happened after dropping the rear axle, the brake lines got real tight, wasnt using my head or i would have disconnected them. Well ill just pull the drums and clean everything and see what I can't figure out. I havnt done anything with the throttle linkage so that can't be it.

I did the same exact thing with mine, I dropped the axle before unhooking the brake lines properly. And I thought the same thing "what if they're screwed up now?". But it's all good now. I'm sure yours are fine. If anything, it should have stretched them out so they work better with the lift.

Ok, so my plan is to loosen the main adjuster for the brake lines. Then disconnet the lines from the back and remove the drums and re-adjust and lube everything. I'm hoping that will fix it. Or maybe it needs to just be driven lol. **** its snowing again today.

So far I need new cotter pins for all the tie rods and steering up front, longer fuel lines, new starter ground strap, fix the brakes, and add a plate to lower the front motor mount. Wow a whole lot of extra stuff just to lift a golf cart.
