| This is for my brother. He as what we think is a 1998 Club Car gas cart. The cart wont crank over. When you press the gas pedal you hear a buzz or humming sound. You can feel the buzz/hum in the starter. Has the starter gone bad? What are the next steps. Do you have to replace the whole starter or can we replace the brushes? Thanks, wish |

| Take the starter belt off and see if it will turn when pressing pedal with out turning the motor. If it turns you can try this which is not the safest thing to do. Put a good glove on and try to hold the starter pulley, if you can hold the pulley from turning then you will need to replace the brushes. |

Really don`t think I`d like to try that test. Sounds like you`d be asking for trouble | |
