Default Turf 272 coil replacement

I am afraid I already know the answer, but, do I have to pull the engine (FE-400) to get the air shroud off in order to check/replace the coil? I have already replaced the RPM limiter and still the engine will just die, does not matter if we are at full RPM or putting around. Also the engine will backfire at times. It almost sounds like a timing issue but when the cart is running it runs very well. I guess while I'm in that far I may as well check the flywheel key to.

I have pulled the shroud from a 290 and a 350 in the cart. A couple of the rear fasteners are a pain to get to . a couple(cant remember what ones) only need to b loosened to get it off.

what exactly is happening with the stock engine? too bad you replaced rpm limiter already. you can just tape off the ground wire and not use it to see if that is what is causing you issues.

Thanks 4vertical, I finally was able to reach the bolts. Boy howdy could that engineer have not done a better job of covering up those bolts?

Justb as an update to all interested. I was able to replace the coil and the cart now runs like a new one. CC wanted $142.00 for a new coil but I found one for $88.00. As the supplier was not a sponsor I will not post the name but the coil was a Yamaha coil direct replacement.
