Can't Start Fast - Hard to Expalin
I have a 93 Gas Club Car. The problem I'm having is how to get the cart started. If you mash down the gas, nothing happens. If you slowly depress the gas, it will start and go. It runs and drives well once started but you simply can't stomp it and go.
Some troubleshooting I have done is in the area of the of the Accelerator Starter Limit Switch and Accelerator Kill Limit Switch. I'm not 100% sure on how these are supposed to work. The cam button looks like it is supposed to open both switches at the same time. What seems to be happening when I can get it to start is that the top switch (starter limit switch) is opening just a bit sooner than the bottom switch (kill limit switch). If I hold the kill switch closed and press the gas pedal down, the motor will start to turn over but wont start until I release the bottom switch. I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I have printed out the wiring diagram and traced out every wire and it all checks out. Thanks in advance. Bryan |

Re: Can't Start Fast - Hard to Expalin
I would trying taking a screw driver across the solenoid (the two larger nuts/posts) and see if it starts any faster. I had the same issue with mine...a second to few second delay when pushing on the pedal. The slower I pushed it, the faster it would start. Replaced both limiter switches did not help but a new solenoid did the trick.

Re: Can't Start Fast - Hard to Expalin
Its not a matter of how fast the motor spins over. That part seems fine. I mean basically if you hopped into the cart and stabbed the gas pedal to the floor, nothing will happen. If you were to slowly ease into the gas, it will fire and take off. I believe the solenoid is new.
I guess I don't understand, by the way it is designed, how the limit switches work. It looks like it is supposed to open both switches at the same time which would not make sense. I really hope to figure this out this weekend. It has to be a really simple solution I would imagine. Bryan |

Still troubleshooting. The one thing on the schematic that is not mentioned is what the position the switches are when the cart if off. Likes if one switch is normally open and the other is normally closed. It just seems like the switches may be miswired and fighting each other.
On a side note. Does anyone know how to edit posts? I need to correct the spelling of my title. Thanks in advance. Bryan |

Re: Can't Start Fast - Hard to Expalin
Did you check the solenoid? It sounds like Clubcar5 had similar issues and it was his solenoid that was the culprit.
I would guess that the switches are wired right or it wouldn't start at all. When you stomp it to the floor does the motor turn over or does it do nothing at all? Sometimes when my battery is low on juice I can't just hop in and pin it either, have to play with the choke and the throttle to find that sweet spot to get the cart to turn over and start up. Once running the cart is fine. Is your battery new or have you checked it out? |

Re: Can't Start Fast - Hard to Expalin
When I stomp it to the floor nothing happens. Its not my cart as I am working on it for a local guy. I didn't ask yet but it looks like the solenoid is new. But then again being covered in the electrical box, it may stay looking new. Not sure of the age of the battery but it seems strong, never dropping off as I am cranking and cranking the motor.
Why would you have to play with the throttle and choke just to get the cart to turn over? Not sure how that would affect the cart turning over. Thanks for the reply. Bryan |

it sounds like a problem I had with my 93 carryall 1 you press on the gas nothing happens, let off slowly hear a click and it starts, I disconected gound from rev limiter did not help, changed solenoid and micro switches did not help. found that the voltage regulator had a loose or bad ground, clean and tighten VR. fixed the problem. add a small jump wire from the neg of the battery to the bolt on top of VR to see if that help |

In your words - this is the exact problem I was having. I would try a new solenoid! If not, it's good PM.
