Rebuilding a motor, need a block
I already posted in the classified section of the forum, but I know that area isn't checked very often, by most members anyway. A motor we are rebuilding had the mounting bolts for the igniter break off. We tried drilling and tapping, but the tap broke off in the 2nd hole. Is a new block the only option, or is there another option we are not aware of. And if a different block is the only option, does anyone out there have one? If so, please PM me.

I do have an extra FZ340 block that threw a rod but it has some cracks in it. You may be able to get away with some JB Weld to fix them IIRC. Some guys here have done it before. I can post some pictures of it later.

Not sure if you tried an easyout for broken taps they are specific for your size tap you should be able to get them at napa or fastnals or other places like that, I have used them many times work great and could save a few bucks.

take the block to a good machine shop. If they have an edm machine they can burn the tap out. if not they can set it up in a mill and run a carbide ball mill through the center of the tap.
as i'm sure you know good machine shops aren't cheap though:( getting broken bolts out is hard to do by hand. and always buy good taps when trying to rethread holes thatmay have hardened bolt parts in them |

got a block no compression but it also does not look like anything escape out the side either

bought a block on ebay, but may keep the other one, and try the machine shop later, in case I need another one some day.
