Clutch & Belt issue
I had on a cogged belt that was only a couple of months old. We have been working the cart hard (going up hill with loads of gravel in dump bed). We were out for a joy ride when going up hill heard a couple of clunks then speed and rpm change. Stopped and found blet had a large chunk gone and flipped upside down. Needless to say we were done. I have the old belt I took off that I can put back on. I ran it in maintinence mode wihtout a belt and it appears clutch is not engaging as smooth as it should a bit jerky engaging and disengaging. I will try to add a video of clutch (can't too large of a file).
Can I go to any parts store and buy another belt or are these special???? |

Re: Clutch & Belt issue
You may have some chunks under the
movable sheaves causing the jerkiness. Also use a straightedge to check the clutches alignment. |

Re: Clutch & Belt issue
I presume you mean from clutch to clutch to make sure there is no angle.
Not saying there is none and I will check, but I have not had anything loose that would change that angle. I have the old belt I took off that I saved as a spare. Next time were at the lakehouse I will throw it on to see if it works ok. |

Re: Clutch & Belt issue
If the motor mounts are getting soft they will flex under load.

Re: Clutch & Belt issue
Thanks, I will check this out. We were working this really hard the day before it broke so I will check to see if there is more of a problem.

Upload your clutch video to YouTube and post the link here. Unless you've fixed the issue by now.

Re: Clutch & Belt issue
I put the old spare belt on and it worked fine all weekend. I really think my problem happened when we were going down a very long and steep hill and our speed was very excessive. It was when we reached the bottom and started up the other side when things started going wrong, but actually happened when going downhill.
When lake season gets over this fall I will remove rear clutch and have heavier spring installed and machined. When I put a couple hundred #'s in rear I can't go up our driveway even with it floored. |
