Default 1999 Gas CC Carryall--Subwoofer/Amp Install

Good morning....I have an extra JL 10" subwoofer and amp that I haven't used in a few years.

Is installing a subwoofer in a Gas Golf Cart the same as a car installation?

It's not needed in the golf cart.....but I figure why not get some use out of it with my cart. I have plenty of space to conceal both of them with the utility bed and cargo box I have installed already.

I wasn't sure if it would drain the battery or if the cart was like a car with respect to an alternator, etc....

Any suggestions/links/advice for installation on a gas golf cart?

Thanks:-)

A gas cart is just like a car, pretty straight forward install if you've done it before. Just don't leave the system on for too long or the battery will die (much like your car) lol I have a set of 6 1/2" Pioneer components on my cart, its plenty loud for me and was super easy to install.
Good luck with it

Yea...I figured it was pretty straight forward like a car.

I have had this amp and two 10"s for the last few years just sittin in storage since one of the 10"s blew out.....never had use for it because I put all new amp and subs in the car.

So I figure why not put the subwoofer that didn't blow to good use and spruce up the cart seeing as theres nothing wrong with the amp.

Maybe ill just install another power switch for the sub and amp as a cutoff (for preventing any battery drain).

Anyone have any picture of mounting examples for an amp and/or subwoofer for a CC Carryall....or even a CC DS? Just so I can brainstorm a bit more before I dive into it??

Thanks!

I had a video of an install I did but to keep it simple I put two 6 1/2 above the wheel wells (kind of like a box sounds great and bass hits hard)... Amp is in the glove compartment I have also placed one in the engine compartment beside the battery made the rack out of ply wood.... Any questions I'm here also used a separate switch to kill the amp when I don't want it on...

Finally, I am set to mount and hookup the amplifier and subwoofers.

I am hooking up a JL e1200 amplifier to JL 10W0-8 (10 inch) Subwoofers. The receiver is a Pioneer DEH-2400UB.

I wanted some guidance from anyone that can help.

The amp and subs are about 10 years old and were in storage for the longest time.

It is a monoblock amp. I remember when I had it hooked up initially there was a certain way (bridged/non-bridged) to set it. Does anyone know the most optimal way to make the connections?

Also, is there a "best place" to ground the amplifier?

Do I need anything additional since it is going on a golf cart?

I was planning on running it through the power switch that I already installed with the receiver last year.

Any guidance is always appreciated! Along with additional ideas for my cart:-)

If I remember correctly... (it's been a while!)
Bridged is a single mono input, with two separate outputs,
Unbridged is a single mono input, with a single mono output

If your amp has one input, and two outputs. I'd go with a Bridged setting, due a better match of impedance of the two speakers to the amp.
If your receiver has two sub outputs, and the amp has two inputs... unbridged is the way to go.
(I'm 75% sure I have that right... but, I won't mind being corrected)

The ground for the amp should go straight to the battery, but, any good chassis ground will work!

As for any of the other questions... it's to your discretion.

Ok thanks for that info!

Everything on the cart already is grounded to the frame itself and nothing to the battery at all.

Since mine is a Carryall with the Utility bed, would I be safe to mount the amplifier in the bed and ground it to the utility bed and not the frame?

I am a little hesitant about it because it's hinged and I am unsure how this affects the ground.

I just didn't want to mount the amp beneath the cart and expose it to the elements and gasoline fumes etc.

Any suggestions on that part?

If your not gonna use the utility bed. add some more grounds to the bed and frame and mount it in the bed. Can't have to many ground straps.

As far as the charging system on your cart if it dosn't have an alt. it uses a low out put charging system and I believe it relies on higher rpms for best results.

Wheres Johnie B ?

The utility bed is now used as passenger seats. You can see what it looks like at my old video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_NyjTsZkwQ

I am replacing the back rest with a utility chest and mounting the subwoofers and amp beneath the chest out of sight.

I just wasn't sure about actually grounding it to the bed....I'm by far no electrician.lol
