Default Engine floods when coasting

Have 95 CC. Took it to the hills for reunion. Seems if I coast down a long hill. The engine has flooded by the time I get to the bottom (not steep just a long hill say 200 ft.). Sometimes I can get it started, sometimes I had to take the plug out and turn it over to blow all the extra fuel out to get it to start ( getting a real good spark too). Then with reluctance it would start, but take a few minutes to get up to par. Also sometimes I`d have to hit the pedal 2 to 4 times before it would actually kick in the starter (brushes going bad?) Sometimes if I rock the cart with my body weight while pushing on the pedal it would turn over and start.

kinda sounds like the carb float isnt functioning properly and as for it not starting occasionally i would check the solenoid and all wire and if not i would replace the brushes

I would say float needs adjusting in carb.

i would rebuild the carb or buy a new one and if you have another cart with the same engine try swapping carbs

Make sure the throttle plate (butterfly) is closing all of the way when you let off of the pedal. The pedal kills the spark in the motor when released and if it is open even a little it will draw fuel when coasting and flood the cylinder and plug as you describe.
I think your float is fine.
On shorter coasting runs, does it backfire when you push the pedal?

A VOM will point out if you have a microswitch, key switch, wiring, solenoid or starter/gen problem.

No it doesn`t flood on short coasts. Just when its a longer coast..say 50 to 100 yds.

Ok, did you check the throttle plate?

Have no idea when or if Carb has been worked on. Just bought a month or so ago. Runs great when started, smooth take off and acceleration. I think I need to replace starter brushes as it sometimes takes hitting the pedal 2 or 3 times to get it to turn over, or shifting weight front to back to kinda rock it. Doesn`t do it all the time. sort of sporatic. You can put the main jet in upside down?
