Default Slow Start, Stalling, Smoking, Oil Leak...

Hi all,

I posted this in the Welcome area, but was told to move it to here...

Just got here, seems like a great resource.

I have a 97 club car that was running fine up until about a week ago.

All of a sudden, it's taking a while to start, and when it does, it generally only runs for about 5-10 seconds before stalling out any dying. When I get it restarted, a ton of white smoke is coming out, then again runs for 5-10 seconds and dies.

When I was putting it back in my garage after this, I noticed oil on the road. Not puddles, but more specks everywhere. In the areas where it was stalled, waiting to start up again there are small puddles.

I just got the car, so I don't know anything about it's maintenance history. Is this something as simple as just needing an oil change, or does it sound more serious? I don't know much about auto mechanics, so wondering if this sounded like a potentially simple problem, or something I needed to call the shop about.

Any advice would be really helpful.
Thanks!

start by checking the oil and if oil is ok because its smoking i would do a compreeeion test for the heck of it, white smoke is a sign of water but that shouldn,t be the case here unless somehow water got into your oil if so you,ll know it when you pull the dipstick it will be a dirty milky color....................

Check to see if the crankcase is way over filled. It sounds like your float stuck and filled the crankcase with gas.
Is the dipstick completely seated in the tube?
Check for crankcase side gasket leaking in the filler tube area as well.
If your not sure of the carts history, do an oil change/tune up and start from there.
