However motor not firing, changed spark plug after filed out old one. Clutch issue, or carburetor?
Thanks in advance |

Re: 2001 DS clutch not engaging when motor turning over
Well, your clutch isn't supposed to engage until the motor fires...so that's not a problem.
Do you have fuel? Is the spark plug and chamber wet with fuel after you try to start it? If it is...you have fuel. Do you have spark? Take the plug out with the wire still on it, hold the body against the motor (to ground it) with a pair of insulated pliers and watch for the spark as you turn it over. If you have fuel and spark, the only other thing it could be missing is air. Take your air cleaner off and try starting it. |

Got, fire! Got air! Took carb off and she wants to fire with starter fluid. Figure it's carb need cleaning so its soaking in cleaner.

Re: 2001 DS clutch not engaging when motor turning over
Cleaned carb, ran great for a hour. Then I let off the accelerator and came to a stop, but engine continued to spit and sputter. I pressed accelerator and I heard the sound of electrical sparking, smelled like i shorted something, fuse still good, and then cart would not do nothing. Pressed accelerator again and nothing. Didn't even hear the clicking noise anymore. Put cart in reverse and heard the buzzing, then pressed accelerator and the buzzing stopped, then let off accelerator and buzzing came back on until I changed to forward. So far with this cart I have replaced the starter generator, replaced fuel filter, changed spark plug, cleaned carb... Getting very discouraged with this freaking cart! Ay one have an idea what the heck just happened.

Like it's not even turning over? Or it's turning over but just not firing?

Is it for sure bad? You can test it by carefully placing a screwdriver across it.
