Driven Clutch Machining
In the middle of my 2001 CC MOD. I have put a 6" Jakes drop spindle lift kit and 12" Vegas Machined Rims with 23" Tires. After reading up on it it makes sense to machine the clutch and install the after market spring in it. I have a good friend who is a machinist who is more than capable of doing the machining but I need to know how much to take off the faces. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Driven Clutch Machining
With a new belt it is usually flush with the top without machining. I'd mill about a 3/8 flat spot on the clutch where they meet. While you are machining, take a new belt and put it in the V.You will be able to tell how much. You want the belt riding high. Id say about an 1/8 or more above the clutch.

Re: Driven Clutch Machining
So you only machine both faces of the clutch that come in contact with the belt, about 3/8" down each side. Do you keep the same angle? So a good way to do it is with the new belt on hand and machine the faces until the new belt sits about an 1/8" proud? Should I use the HD belt or just a regular replacement? Im going to be installing the 200rpm spring.

Re: Driven Clutch Machining
From my understanding, you dont machine the angled portion, just the flat portions where the two clutch halves meet on the shaft. This puts the two halves closer together and therefore the belt rides higher and makes for a quicker take off.

Re: Driven Clutch Machining
Im confused now. The driven clutch on my 2001 cc has no flat portion where they come together only the drive clutch has such a spot and from my conversations with other people and from what I have read the driven clutch is what gets machined. The one connected to the transaxle. Is this not correct?

Re: Driven Clutch Machining
when the engine is off the driven clutch is all the way together, the drive clutch is fully separated allowing the belt to drop all the way down.

Re: Driven Clutch Machining
When you get it back, look down where the 2 halves meet and you'll see it.
