93 Runs great till warmed up
Hi guys I have read thru a lot of the posts on this site as I am fairly new to this site. I have a 93 CC that starts and runs fine until it gets warmed up then it does not want to start when it does it is very slow and has very little power. When you take the air intake hose off at the carb it is wet inside. I think I may have to rebuild the carb, because I am thinking the float may be sticking but like I said I am fairly new to golf carts. Also if I do need to rebuild the carb would it run better/faster with the jet kit installed or do I need to install more upgrades to make it run right. One more thing will the cart run faster if I lossen the govener arm but leave the limiter hooked up? There are several people that ride this cart. That is why I want to leave the limiter hooked up. Thanks

Re: 93 Runs great till warmed up
i would definitely say the float is sticking and as for the high perf carb jet check out this thread too see what i did instead of buying the carb jet

Re: 93 Runs great till warmed up
When it gets to the point that it won't restart, pull the plug and check for no spark or a wet plug.
Also a misadjusted intake valve (not closing all of the way when warmed up) will allow compression and fuel to be blown back into the carb and the compression loss will reduce power. |

Re: 93 Runs great till warmed up
Thanks for the replies guys. I went out and started messing with it again this evenng. I think I figured out part of my starting problem. My starter belt slips when it is warm, the motor spins but the engine does not. Also I took my gps with me and checked the speed 13 mph with the govener hooked up and just shy of 17 with out it. I left the rev limiter hooked up so just before it reachs 17 mph it cuts out til you let off the gas a little bit. John do you have an overall demision of the jet after you cut it down, and did you gain any speed or torque after the install?

Re: 93 Runs great till warmed up
well what gave me the idea is if you look at the high performance one it just looks like a jet cut down and yes i gained a huge throttle response more speed and it just takes off but i have extensively modified my carb linkage so it opens 100% when you press the pedal but you should definitely try it heres a pic
lmk if you have any other questions |

Re: 93 Runs great till warmed up
keep in mind its not real good to let the cart keep bouncing off the rev limitor it can and will do engine damage.......advice hook the gov. back up there are other ways to get a bit more speed than the gov...................................

Re: 93 Runs great till warmed up
Hey Shadowman, I took the carb apart and someone has already replaced the jet with the high performance one. I am going to hook the govenor back up but I plan on adjusting it so that it stays just under the rev limiter. I have not had any problems with backfire but I can only give it about 1/4 -1/2 throttle before it hits the limiter (once it gets up to speed I have to back off the throttle) so I am not at WOT when the engine cuts out. What other options do I have for more speed without sending clutchs off for machining? As far as I know this is a stock cart? I do know the tires are stock size Thanks James

Re: 93 Runs great till warmed up
Ok I think I finally got it done. I put the govener back to where it was, adjusted the rod from the gas pedal and adjusted the cable in the black box now the only time I hit the rev limiter is if I am going down hill. I also replaced both belts. I was at 13mph before any changes and now I am at 18mph. This is a stock cart except for the changes above and it has the performance jet in the carb. Is 18 about it for a stock cart with a rev limiter?
