98 CC gas engine level after lift question
Newbie here. First post. I am in the process of buying a beachcombers for my family and I have negotiated the golf cart in the deal. 1998 CC gas. Wil start and move forward and backwards in small shed where stored. Hope to get a better look next weekend. Here's my question. I would like to install a 6" lift and larger tires. I keep reading about the engine oil level needing to be adjusted as the tilt of the engine changes. In lieu of that why not change the front level of the engine to compensate for the lift. I have found parts breakdowns on the net that show the from of the engine mounting plate has an L shaped bracket that rides in a snubber I assume is a rubber mount. Why could you not fabricate a longer bracket to adjust the engine angle. This seems to be a simple solution but being limited in access to an actual cart I can't be sure. Does someone make an extended mounting plate? I realize I will be sacrificing some ground clearance but I suspect this would not be the low point on the cart anyway. Been lurking a couple weeks and you guys have been a wealth of info and have some really nice carts.

Nobody makes and sells a mounting plate as far as I know. But a few guys here including myself have lowered our engine cradles in front after lifting. I lowered mine 2" after installing a 6" lift.

2 1/4" with 7" of lift:
Snubber 3.jpg If a 1998 has a "new style" air box, you may have to modify the intake tube. Intake hose.jpg 033.JPG |

Lockman, how did you modify the intake? Where did you get the piece that bolts to the carb but faces up?

I used a piece of flat bar to lower the mount just like in the above picture. It worked great.
I just ordered the B&S elbow and will be working on that fix in the near future. |

98 CC gas engine level after lift question
Here is my fix. I still need to add a few hose clamps but the air tube is no longer collapsed. I also painted the elbow black. |
