Default 88 DS. Starter engages when keys turned on

I have an 88 cc ds. I turn the key to 'on' position and the starter engages without pushing the Go pedal. The key switch is new and the solenoid is too. All the wiring looks to be going where it should so I'm not sure where else to look at this point. I appreciate any help..

Solenoid could be stuck. It's in the little black box under the air intake.

I can hear the solenoid click still when the key is turned on though. I used the same schematic that you posted here to run through the wires and they all seem to check out. I was thinking bout unwrapping the wiring harness from under the dash to the black box under the seat where the solenoid is to track all the wires back to see if they are maybe possibly damaged or something but wasn't sure if there would be a more simple explanation for why its doing this. The original solenoid was replaced with a 4 post solenoid from an early 1980's Ford so i'm not sure if this could be a factor. I was told that and 12 volt 4 post solenoid could be used but now I'm not so sure.. The 2 smaller posts on the new one are labeled 'S' and 'I' abd there are no markings on the original Club Car solenoid.

First off... the Ford solenoid is an "intermittent" duty solenoid, And Club Car's are "continuous" duty,
Your Ford solenoid will fail much sooner then expected!

As for the starter turning over when you turn the key on,
the first thing I would look at is the cam (1/2 gear looking thing) in the electrical components box,
to make sure that the cam is returning to it's stop completely,
It could be something like a bent/binding linkage rod (from the go pedal) that's keeping the micro's from doing their job!

Thanks for the info. I'll start by replacing the solenoid with the correct CC one now.
The cam appears to be working correctly and operating the switches. So this brings a couple more questions to mind, which wire going to the solenoid trips it and activates the starter/gen? I thought it would be the orange wire coming from the mini switch next to the solenoid but have zero voltage on the ohm meter. Should this wire be 12 volt when the pedal is pushed?

check the wiring in the black box, there is a kit to make ds start when you turn the key i put it in mine and i love it,no more jumpy starts at low speeds, it now goes from a slow walk to almost twenty

Thumbs up Re: 88 DS. Starter engages when keys turned on

Problem(s) solved. I checked out the black box and ran through the wiring again after still having problems after replacing the solenoid with the correct cc part. Turns out I had a bad micro switch on the forward/reverse switch. On top of that, it was in 'service mode' still from getting it back from the service shop. I was reading some of the threads on here about converting to keyed start but the golf cart is my father in law's and he wants me to keep it close as i can to functioning like a stock cart. Which is kinda ironic since kf82 is an over sized paper weight b/c they don't make the coil for it anymore. So now I'm in the process of doing the clone swap.
