High speed gears
Will high speed gears give me more torque as well as speed?
Thanks,Glenn |

Re: High speed gears
no it will reduce torque and increase speed only if the engine can overcome the torque loss 6:1 work if you have a strong engine and flat ground , as soon as you get to a grade or hill of any kind your going to suffer unless you have the engine to back it up i.e. big block or clone swap even then you have to deal with the gear ratio getting even lower if your cart is lifted with bigger tires say you have a lift with 22" tires and 6 or even 8 to 1 gears your going to be in the 3 or 4 to one ratio and a stock engine is not going to pull that without burning up belts and clutches and eventually the engine will just grenade itself trying.

Re: High speed gears
You have to trade one thing for another, you can't get both with gears. Increase speed reduce torque. reduce speed increase torque.
