Running reverse as forward
I have a 1997 Club Car with a FE 290 blown engine.I have another fe290 out of a 1995 cart that is CCW rotation. The engine has been bored to .50mm and .025 has been milled off the head, timing advance key,and K&N filter. What kind of performance can I expect with driving in the lower reverse gear?
Thanks,Glenn |

Re: Running reverse as forward
Agreed. It stinks. And reverse is fast enough to be dangerous.

Re: Running reverse as forward
I also don't think the lubrication would be satisfactory running in reverse continuously. The gears are cut to ride the oil up in the forward direction.

Re: Running reverse as forward
If I remember correctly, they are 12.5:1 in Forward,17:1 in Reverse.Speed will drop drastically, but crawling-torque will go thru the roof!

Re: Running reverse as forward
I'm probly throwing 8.1 gears in it to fix that. I don't understand why everyone freaks out if reverse goes faster , it only goes as fast as you give It the throttle.

Re: Running reverse as forward
Excuse me.....but isn't reverse made to go backwards slow, and the drive gears (you know, 1,2,3, etc) made to go forward fast...or faster?
.......just sayin..... Dave |

Re: Running reverse as forward
The new cc has to be ran backwards unless you make a jack shaft
