Default Can a counter-clockwise fe290 be installed in a clockwise cart chassis?

Just curious what would need to be done to put a fe290 from a 1993 DS into a 2000 DS with a blown motor? Would I need to swap the real axle also?

thanks in advance

Reverse would be forward. Other than that same motor almost. Install high speed gears if reverse is to slow.

can you elaborate on what the problems were? Am I correct that there are internal engine parts between the two engines?

The differential is reversed ...... and it has different gear ratios for F&R. You wind up with very low & slow gearing in forward and high and fast gearing in reverse.
