Default CarryAll Clutch Question

Just picked a 2005 carryall 1 and when you go to take off the clutch just snaps on at one point. It revs up a bit and instead of engaging smoothly like the carryall 6 I have it just engaging right away?

I am talking about the front drive clutch.

Any troubleshooting tips?

I have a performance spring in my drive clutch and it now does exactly what you are explaining, and I squeal tires in the garage if I am not careful. I believe I have the +200RPM spring.

It is comparable to dumping the clutch in a car.

Hum, thanks for the tip. The guy I bought it from did just did allot of work on the cart and might of put one in. I have a Power Spring kit (for the rear clutch) that I bought for my other CarryAll and wonder if I installed it on this one if it would smooth out the takeoff??

I am making this Carryall one into a 4 seat cart and don't want to toss anybody off the back.

The carryalls came with a stiffer spring that revs the engine up to a higher rpm before engaging to carry loads in the dump bed. If you want a smoother take off just change the spring out to a stock club car spring. Its half the size spring that you got in it now. On my 2000 club car ds I had taken my driven clutch ( the back clutch) off and sent it to Tom at CartPartsPlus and had it machined and he install a heavy duty spring and it works great and made a lot of torque and a smooth take off. On my 2001 club car ds that I bought... it came with a carryall drive (Front clutch) that someone installed and Cart Parts Plus machined and installed a heavy duty spring in my driven (Back clutch). It spends the tires at take off.

The CarryAll -VI that I have takes off very smooth, nothing like this one. I might just need to use to it, I want it have a bit of power when 4 people riding thought the wood on my property. Going to install the Driven clutch spring that I have in stock and see what the difference is.

I usually cut about 1 1/2 wrap of coil off the end that's opposite the end that contacts the idler roller bearing. Don't put the cut end into the bearing (Don't ask). I've done tons of them. Still gives torque but doesn't squeel the tires on takeoff.

Are you talking about the smaller spring on the front clutch or the larger one on the rear clutch?
