96 DS won't run!
Hey all, cart ran good all year so far, young lad stopped cart to fuel up and now won't run, can't figure it out. Cleaned fuel pump, works great, cleaned carb, no problem here. Pulled plug out, lots of spark and fuel in the cylinder. Turns over ok back fires but will not turn over and run. Igniter maybe? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Check compression. Also there was a guy on here with same issues and his crank key broke throwing of timing. That would explain the back firing. Check compression though

The timing key is what holds the fan on in a certain position to the crank. You have to remove the fan shroud get or make a puller to jerk off the fan. Then there is a little woodroff key that locks the fan from rotating. This is all on the drivers side of the cart. But do the basics first. Which sounds like you already have except checking compression.

Re: 96 DS won't run!
check the gas that was put in , you may have gotten some bad gas with the ethanol in the gas , we find that when ethanoled gas goes bad you end up with alot of water absorption in the gas , water does not burn im betting the gas added had water and the bottom of the tank is water not gas and your pumping plenty of it to the cylinder , you need to drain a mason jar of gas from the fuel line off the carb and see what you get , im betting if you let it set for a few minutes your going to find that it seperates the water will be on the bottom , and guess what, guess where the pickup tube gets fed from in the gas tank
you will need to continue draining the gas until is stops separating and then you need to pull and clean the carb and bowl out , i see this happen every day |

I agree with the bad gas. See if it will start on starting fluid or if it still back fires.
