00 Carryall Bogging
Hey guys, I just put in a low hour used FE350 in a 00 CarryAll.
I have cleaned the fuel pump Cleaned the carb Replaced both fuel filters Bypassed the governor Bypassed RPM limiter New spark plug New driven clutch The carb vent line is not plugged The pump is pumping plenty of fuel Etc... She is a bit cold blooded to start. You have to feather the throttle when taking off. If you go to wide open it just bogs. It takes quite awhile to get to a fast speed, and even then if feels lacking on the top end, for no governor/rev limiter. Once you have gotten it warmed up, the bog gets better, but not perfect. It still feels like it holding back at WOT. Earlier this year I put a tiny tach and bypassed the governor/ rev limiter on a 07 FE350 cart, and that thing hauled, it seemed to keep pulling until you let off. There was no bog with that cart. I read in another thread that had similar symptoms, that a new carb solved the problem. No matter how many times it was cleaned, it was just worn out. It seems to be where I am at, unless there is something I am missing. If it comes down to it, can I order a carb for a FE290 for the leaner jet, as recommended in the Go Fast list, or are the carbs way different between the FE350 and FE290? Anything I am missing? |

Re: 00 Carryall Bogging
Maybe it could be an airbox issue? I will have to wait until Monday before I can get to the shop to investigate. Where does the airbox get its fresh air? I remember being able to see the air filter through an opening in the fron of the airbox. Is that factory? It feels like it a fuel delivery issue, possibly lean?

Re: 00 Carryall Bogging
It was the lower airbox! It had a couple of holes broken into it. I replaced it with a good one I had on another cart, and it works perfect. Throttle response is back, and no more bogging, and it will keep pulling on the top end. These things are VERY sensitive to the airbox.
