Default Cable Lubrication. Tools?

Does anyone have any advice on how best to lubricate cables? Brake cables, throttle cables, whatever. I have quite a few carts and, historically, lube them the old fashioned way; dripping lube down an end of a cable and working it until the entire length is lubed up.

There has to to be an easier way. I know that there are cable lubrication tools out there but I have never used them. Would they work on cart cables? Particularly throttle cables that are curved at the carb?

Anyone have any tips / hints they would like to share?

Thanks in advance.

I have some made by yamaha, they work good, but leak a little. I have also electrical-taped the spray can straw onto the cable to get the same effect, it works also, and leaks also.

Initially on frozen or stiff cables,a mix of Atf and diesel fuel works, since it is a detergent and a solvent mix.It will flow thru the winds of the cable.I use a regular oil-can to squirt it in,yes its messy, but it works. Also flexing the cables starting at one end helps too.

I remember seeing one years ago that looked like a big syringe with a hose that would go over the cable end and clamp down. Once clamped you just squirted it in..

Most motorcycle shoppes have inexpensive cable lube tools that work ok. They slip over the cable and clamp down, you insert the nozzle from the can of spray lube into the rubber grommet and spray away!
