wiring harness
Anybody have a line on a wiring harness for a 1992 columbia gas par car golf cart? Par car tells me the part is obsolete so I need to find one after market. The key switch has 3 prongs with a loop wire that seems to have a transistor or resister in it. I don't know if this is something that could just be bypassed. The problem is my reverse doesn't work unless I "jiggle the wire". I have already broken off the prong and had to buy a new key switch (very expensive). So if anyone has some info, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: wiring harness
You can re-wire it yourself. It is not hard to do but you will need a schematic diagram. Do you have a wiring schematic?

Re: wiring harness
Thanks. I just heard from a supplier that they have one fairly cheap. My only problem with re-wiring it is that there is a diode that makes the current run one way, as in forward or reverse. That is why I was gun shy about re-wiring.

Re: wiring harness
I think the diode controls the backup buzzer. Do you need a wiring diagram? I can e-mail you one.

Re: wiring harness
I have a 1992 par car manual with the wiring schematic. I just don't know how to read them, but try to figure out. If that is what it is really for,(the diode) then I could possibly just rewire it. One wire comes off and connects to a relay bolted under the key switch. There is also a bare connection on the same relay with no wire attached. Would like if anyone knows to just send me some info on how to rewire so I have forward and reverse. Thank you in advance.

Re: wiring harness
You need to find someone locally to help you read the diagram. It will be very hard titeoo you how to wire it since terminology will be confusing. For instance when you say a wire comes off, I would need to know where and what the wire is coming off of. So if you can be more specific, I can still help. Wiring is simple by point to point wiring If the points are known or identified. Try again and maybe I can help.

Re: wiring harness
Thank you. I will probably get a chance to work on it over the weekend, and I will let you know what I find out.
