Default Noise when starting

Hey guys I got a 1990 gasoline par car and when I turn it on and push my foot down on the accelerator pedal sometimes I hear like a buzzing noise and the engine struggles to turn then it gets like a sudden oomph and winds over and starts. It can be a delay of 3 to 5 seconds sometimes and sits there and buzzes.
I pump the pedal and it will go.
It has a brand new battery so that's not the problem.
Any one have any ideas or anything I can try or know of what it could be.

Like I said it's not all the time but sometimes happens

Don't know a lot about parcar but check your ground(s). And, of course all other connections.

Are you talking about a reverse buzzer being heard or some other type of buzzing noise?

No it's not a reverse buzzer. It's like something is trying to turn but struggles and it's a humming/buzzing

Check your starter brushes. If those are getting worn the starter will turn slow until it gets past its needed start energy then fire up quickly when it's past that point.

Yes sounds like you need to rebuild the starter/generator.

Mine does that somewhat. More in reverse. Reverse will actually kick on and pick you up out of the seat if you don't throttle back. I need to rebuild mine too.

The reason it doesn't do it all the time is because when the engine quits, the starter brushes stop in a different (good or bad) spot. It will eventually get worse.

I've been troubleshooting a similar issue. Does yours sound like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ET7g_vOnU0M
