Default Compression test gauge fluctuating

Hey guys I decided to do a compression test on my 1990 2 stroke buggy and I took the plug out, screwed my tester hose in and then my gauge, I then pushed the accelerator pedal down and watched the gauge it was fluctuating. It runs fine and no problems. What could this be? I am not 100% sure that the hose sealed on the head but I couldn't hear any leak from it.

Is that gauge ok? Is there some other engine you can try it on to make sure it's not malfunctioning?

I have seen those gauges bounce a bit here and there but nothing like that. I can't think of anything in the cylinder that would make it do that.

I can't watch the video but it is normal for the reading to go up, but not bounce back. There should be a check valve of some sort in the gauge. Sounds like that it is sticking. You can probably rent a compression tester from an auto parts store. You may be able to spray some PB Blaster in there to clean it.

There should be a schrader valve in the end of your compression gauge it keeps the air from being released back into cylinder on the down stroke of motor yours definitely does not have one
