What fuel pump can i exchange for the original pump on a two stroke engine? I would like to go electric if possible.

I don't know an exact brand/model pump, but you want something with a low psi rating. Too much pressure on the float needle causes the carb to flood. Some people have had to make a kind of loop in the fuel system such as a return line on a fuel injection system to bypass some of the pressure.

The low pressure units on Ebay worked on the original harley engine ,the snowmobile Suzuki FC 440 now in the cart and worked fine also in my VC 460 powered yamaha G 14 cart. I didn't need the return line with either engine in the harley cart but did with did VC460 I suspect the harley carbs were set up for a fuel pump and the 460 carb for gravity feed was the difference.

The ebay sites say 4-7 psi.

I use Carter #P60504 which deliver 3.5 - 4.5 psi. Amazon has them. American made and they work well.

My cart doesnt seem to run well with the fuel pump thats on it. It seems to starve for gas. I put a new pump on it and it seems like it doesnt get enough fuel. I pull the choke several times to keep it running then it just doesnt want to stay running afterwords. Not sure what else it could be

Sounds like you need to clean the carburetor.

If you take the fuel line off the carb and it pumps fuel while cranking, then its not the fuel pump. Probably the carb is gummed up or air is bypassing the carb, such as worn crank seals or a blown gasket.

If fuel pump does not pump, then it has to be fuel pump, hose leak sucking air in line, or the check valve in the tank is froze up.

I haven't worked on par cars much but if it's a two stroke it's likely a crank seals and not actually a fuel pump issue

Indeed, a good fuel pump is only responsible for 1/2 of the fuel delivery system in most 2 stroke motors. Fuel pumps, either mechnical or electric, only get fuel from the gas tank to the carb. Engine vacuum gets it from the carb into the cylnder (assuming that the carb isn't clogged and otherwise is in good working order). For the most part, crank seals are the only parts in the case that cause vacuum loss there. Incidentally, if vacuum is poor mechanical fuel pumps will be negatively impacted as well.

Rather than going crazy testing I normally just put a new pump on. I like electrics but that's just me. If takes care of the issue then I had a fuel pump issue. If not I clean, rebuild or flat out replace the carb. If that doesn't fix the issue then I almost certainly need some crank seals. They are a PIA but, fortunately, Columbias are about the easiest ones I have ever done.
