Default 90-95 Par Car 2 stroke Electrical Issue

Cart was running fine. Tee'd off and got back on it and the small gauge wires that go to the A1 and A2 terminals on the starter/generator burnt clean in half. You can see where the fusible link used to be in these wires. They appear to go the the voltage regulator, this is what I suspect has gone bad. Probably just bad luck that the wires shorted out and burnt up or is there something else I should be checking?

I would suspect the VR as well. If it blows again then your starter / generator is probably shorting out. It's no the end of the world but you will probably have to take it to an alternator shop for a repair.

I had not realized Par Car was still using the 2 stroke engine this late.
Still the same engine from the Harley era??

Shared some parts with the earlier HD engine but mostly like the 1982 and up harley's that had a different crankcase and cylinder and many other different parts.

Yeah, they used that stroke all the way until at least 1991, maybe even longer. My folks had a 1991 and I did a lot of learning on that one. I am not sure when the cut-over to the 4 stroke was.
