How to remove par car secondary clutch 1997
I am no mechanic I'm just a woman that needs her golf cart to travel the woods with my lab..lol I have had this cart for 8 years, and I have luckily until now done only general maint. and I just did a body wrap and redid the seats this winter so I'm not giving up on this!
I have a early 1997 Columbia Par Car 4 stroke that is in great running condition as far as motor goes however I'm having issues with secondary clutch engaging, wheels will not spin. The clutch looks ok visually, however I'm assuming it's possible the key on the spline is either gone or wore (after much online research this was what I concluded but need to remove clutch to be certain). We have removed air filter in the way, the bolt, used WD40, did some tapping the clutch will not budge. Getting a clutch pull in there doesn't look possible as the welded braces for the air filter are aligned just perfect (bad design) Please Help! Any tips or tricks to remove this secondary clutch to see if it's repairable? |

Re: How to remove par car secondary clutch 1997
I dont know the par cars but have you checked that there are not broken splines in the wheel hubs as it is a common no drive failure on most other brands, particularly EZGO. Just hold the brake and try to drive, if a centre nut on one of the rear wheels spins, then its likely a worn hub. Dont hold me to this as i said, i dont know how par car wheels are driven by the axle.

I know Columbias some but, unfortunately, not the later ones.
Here is a link to a bunch of Columbia service manuals" http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/colum...umbia-Service/ I looks like the one for a '97 is there. That would tell how to get that clutch off. |

Re: How to remove par car secondary clutch 1997
Thank you cartmaster, the hub was also the issue. Replaced the hub and back on the road, cart is running much better. However there seems to still be an issue with the clutch as the 3 new shoe pads on secondary clutch just don’t stay in. Not sure if they should be glued in or something but they are popping off after riding a bit.

As far as i know, They should be a press fit, but maybe you need to glue them due to wear and not fitting as tight as they should.
